Info

The second album came out just as
Europe started to really come out and subject themselves to Orbital.
The joking bros decided to start the second album exactly the
same way as the first album started. "There is this theory of
the Moebious...". and if that wasnt enough they started "Planet
of the Shapes" with a crackling intro (i wonder how many Vinyl
owners were checking their records when they heard it).
A lot of the Orbital heads out there
class this as their favourite...maybe it was their first taste
of Orbital. Its the most danceable Orbital album and i even heard
one person call it a "Rave" album (not too sure of that).
Highlights
of the album has to be "Impact (The Earth Is Burning)" (the original
release that spanned 2 million reworkings and is STILL a favourite
on the live set), "Lush 3-2" (Debut vocals from Kirsty Hawkshaw
that made the Lush track what it is), "Planet of the Shapes" (a
gem) and "Halcyon + On + On" ( a slight re-working of the Ep release
which captures the ambient like textures from P&Ps head

Reviews
|
'As warm as plasma and as eerie as ectoplasm' - NME
'Lush 3.1 - is a tantalising shimmer-swirl of synth textures
that feel as sensual as sprin rain.' - NME
'Lush 3.2 - introduces an ethereal girl-voice whose extasy
could be either ecclesiastrical or sexual, an unearthly horn-section
and a rubbery bass like that what itches in the bloodstream.' -
NME
'Lush - Built on a crunchy dramatic bass foundations and
glowing with splashes of intermitant colour.' - Select Magazine
'Halcyon - is the flipside of the hardcore attitude, a shimmering
dream-like embrace that repeats a backwards-looped sample of Opus
IIIs Its a Fine Day over eleven minutes of mantric Orbital house'
- Select Magazine |
