Info

Orbital released their first single from the long awaited 6th album, The Altogether on the 16th April 2001.

"Funny Break" features Orbital's album edit along with one of their own reworkings of the track -- the "Weekend Raver Mix" together with further mixes by none other than the Plump DJs and Layo & Bushwacka.

Vocals are courtesy of Naomi Bedford of newly-formed outfit Jonah Hex whilst the lyrics are by Naomi together with fellow band member Andrew Bramley. Initial recordings took place at Orbital's satellite studio in Brighton and final mixes were completed in London at which point Michael Smith and Dominic Glover provided trumpet and sax.

Reached number 21 in the Uk Charts.

Media Reviews
(Translated by Harald Walker) 16.04.2001: Orbital ''Funny Break" Orbital are back with their sixth album, called "The Alltogether". This is the first single release, which can't really be categorized - but this is just great. You can find it somewhere between experimental breakbeat and house. The vocals are from Naomi Bedford. Although the album once again is quiet experimental and diverse, it is in the general impression rather slow. The single debuts with 5 versions and therefore offers a good outlook on the album, which is supposed to be released on April 30 - up and down - in the remix! The last track fascinates me the most - nice electronic (Electro-Breakbeats), hard and still easy going... great soundlayers, which add up here and which I am not even able to name. But sometimes just that is not necessary ... just listen to it! --Single of the Week - Techno Online Website
